About the Job

We are looking to hire a Senior HR Business Partner (HRBP) to work closely both with the business leaders and group HR centres of excellence in the UK to help drive our HR strategy, support our HR processes and policy implementation, and develop approaches that achieve business and people objectives. You will have excellent interpersonal and influencing skills and will operate across all the Lucy Group UK businesses, located in Thame, Sowerby Bridge, Newcastle and Oxford.

You will be implementing specific people initiatives, processes and policies which have been designed by the Centres of Excellence for Talent and Rewards, working closely with Group Communications and Engagement and by managing HR Central Services team.

This role reports to the Global Head of HR Operations, Systems and Rewards, and works closely with the rest of HR Senior Leadership Team.

Key Accountabilities:

How you will make an impact at Lucy Group:

  • Partner with HR and business leaders to develop and agree the people agenda and ensure that agreed actions are implemented, acting as a first point of contact, trusted advisor and sounding board
  • Provide in-depth advice and guidance to internal customers on HR policies and procedures to ensure they are supported in their decisions and roles as people managers
  • Support and collaborate with the three centres of excellence (Learning & Development, Communications & Engagement and HR Services & Rewards) to ensure the successful implementation of their programs, as well as other functions (Legal, Finance, IT etc)
  • To promote, support and deliver the ongoing regular HR activities i.e. workforce planning, salary reviews, performance excellence etc., working with the wider HR team to ensure compliance with the group HR operating framework
  • Manage and develop the central HR team to deliver day to day operational and advisory support to all stakeholders efficiently
  • Provide a hands-on approach in dealing with HR and People matters delivering expert HR guidance to senior managers to help them build strong performing teams and sustainable organisational structures.
  • Be the custodian for the Lucy Group values and culture ensuring that group policies and processes are followed.
  • To effect this, you will build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders and leaders in the business, drive the delivery of the businesses’ people plans and use your experience, skills, and knowledge of the HR industry to make an impact in key areas.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills

You will be expected to hold a university degree, with a professional qualification from an accredited chartered institute such as the CIPD at level 7. An applicant will also be expected to have an overall 10 years HR generalist experience with at least five years’ experience in a leadership position, either as a senior HR business partner or as an HR manager in another similar sized manufacturing or other industrial setting. You will also be required to have the following:

Skills & Expertise:

  • Highly experienced HR Partner with the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships, at all levels, and the ability to deliver commercial and robust HR solutions
  • Experience of partnering with senior and middle management in a medium sized, multinational organisation, with some experience of working with executive level leaders
  • Experience of working within organisations having had responsibility for multiple locations
  • Proven ability to deliver strategic HR Plans and ability to identify areas where HR can contribute to improved business performance
  • Generalist HR experience including policy writing, solid exposure to Employee Relations, and excellent employment law knowledge
  • Possess strong change management, negotiation and influencing skills, to achieve positive outcomes with some experience of managing a cultural shift or transformational change and design and delivery of organisational structural change
  • Ability to use HR data, metrics, and evidence to inform and drive decision making and change across your business areas
