The role itself

We are very aware that our people are what makes our business such a success, so we need to attract, hire and retain the very best talent. That’s why we have created a really exciting brand new, high-profile role that will be pivotal to achieving this. We are looking for a leader (and definitely a doer) who understands the business and its DNA make up, and in turn designs and delivers a compensation and benefits approach across Group, through a fantastic global Senior Leadership team and HR community, ensuring that each business has competitive compensation, benefits and non-financial recognition programmes, and that supports our culture. The role is multifaceted and involves a mix of strategic planning, hands on operational management, and influential leadership.

This role is not about a one size fits all approach; it requires someone who can really understand the different parts of the business and create solutions that meet the specific needs of the Group and each business within it, fostering collaboration, knowledge sharing, inspirational management, innovative and entrepreneurial thinking, and ultimately driving growth and of course customer satisfaction.

This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about attracting, retaining and motivating the very best talent in the world, and ready to make a significant, positive impact on the business. The successful candidate will have a strategic vision and the ability to execute on that vision, using innovative approaches and the latest technologies to achieve success. It will suit someone who can think strategically and operate hands-on, as it starts with no direct reports but includes a collaborative HR team for support.

The responsibilities are aligned to our business goals.

Total Compensation Philosophy:

  • Compensation Framework
    • Review all Group businesses compensation strategies, including salary structures, incentive plans, equity programs, and develop with the CPCO, where relevant.
    • Identify where compensation practices aren’t aligned with market trends, company objectives, and regulatory requirements and work with relevant leaders and HR community to evolve.
    • Conduct regular market analyses to benchmark salaries and ensure competitiveness.
    • Assess the salary review process in all businesses and consider how to improve, working in conjunction with local HR in respect of aligning to performance.
    • Oversee the management and optimisation of salary review platforms, ensuring they are user friendly and support fair decision making.
  • Benefits
    • Review Group businesses benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, health and wellness initiatives, and other employee perks, and evolve as appropriate.
    • Ensure local benefits programs are equitable, cost-effective, and compliant with local regulations in each country of operation, joining up benefits across businesses where it makes sense.
    • Regularly evaluate and adjust benefits offerings to meet the evolving needs of the workforce.
    • Work with marketing to promote benefits across businesses, raising employee awareness of the offering.
    • Review all benefit platforms and identify evolution, or selection of ones that will streamline benefits administration and enhance employee experience.

Non-Financial Recognition Programs:

  • Consider how to develop and implement non-financial recognition programs that enhance employee engagement and retention. This may include awards, employee recognition platforms, and other initiatives that acknowledge and reward employee contributions. Partner with internal teams to integrate recognition programs with broader employee engagement strategies.
  • Collaborate with HR community and business leaders to create initiatives that recognise and reward employees for their contributions, beyond financial compensation.
  • Promote a culture of recognition throughout Group, ensuring programmes are accessible, inclusive and drives collaboration.

Leadership and Collaboration:

  • Mentor and advise the global HR community, providing guidance and support to ensure the successful execution of strategies.
  • Partner with HR, finance, and business leaders to integrate compensation, benefits, and recognition programs with broader HR and business strategies.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on compensation, benefits, and recognition, advising senior leadership on best practices and emerging trends.
  • Create and deliver training in conjunction with Group Head of L&D for management training programme on how to make fair pay decisions.
  • Manage supplier relationships.

Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Utilise data analytics to assess the effectiveness of compensation, benefits, and recognition programmes.
  • Prepare and present reports for senior leadership on key metrics, including programme participation, cost analysis, and employee satisfaction.
  • Continuously improve programmes based on feedback, data insights, and market trends.

Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Ensure that all compensation, benefits, and recognition programmes comply with local, national, and international laws and regulations.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with compensation and benefits programs, including legal, financial, and reputational risks.

Budget Overview:

  • Have clear understanding of the global compensation and benefits budgets, consider cost-effectiveness and alignment with business priorities, and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Work with finance and HR teams to forecast costs and manage expenditures related to compensation, benefits, and recognition programmes.

What’s required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualified – demonstrating you’re dedicated to continuously learning.
  • Extensive experience (typically 10+ years) in global compensation and benefits, demonstrating a deep knowledge of global compensation trends, benefits administration, and regulatory compliance.
  • Commercial mindset: Translate commercial objectives into incentive and recognition solutions.
  • Solutions Focused: Ability to develop tailored, effective C&B solutions.
